Hearty and cosy Cottage Pie 🥧

This recipe dates back to the end of the 18th century. It was a time where potatoes were used as an everyday food item by the poorer British people who lived in cottages. Hence its name.

The recipe is pretty standard. For the filling: you will need minced meat 🥩 and your preferred veggies, we like carrots, peas, bell peppers, and mushrooms 🍄 sautéed in a pan until veggies are semi cooked through and meat completely cooked.

For added depth in flavour, add the classic onion gravy to combine all the ingredients. To this add a table spoon of Worcestershire sauce and a table spoon of tomato paste. Make sure the consistency of the gravy is on the thick side.

Spread into your preferred dish depending on the quantity of the filling. To finish add a good dollop of mashed potatoes 🥔

The 🔑 is to have a good ratio of both.

This dish is perfect for a cold wintery evening and is super indulging and cosy.
